ADVENTURERS from Wind Valley Seventh-Day Adventist Church in White River, West Honiara, have successfully completed their weekend camp.
The camp was held from Friday 16 August to Sunday 18 August at the Wind Valley SDA Church compound.
It was held as part of the Adventurers award requirements for various classes – Sunbeam, Builder, Helping Hand, Busy Bee, Early Bird and Little Lamb.
The program officially begun on Friday night with the opening of Sabbath devotion and this was followed by Sabbath activities focusing on spiritual awards.
On Sunday, the children participated in activities to earn recreational awards.
Adventurer Leader Serah Newter shared that the Adventurers had the opportunity to earn two types of awards – Spiritual Awards and Recreational Awards.
“Our Adventurers learned about their Spiritual Awards and Recreational Awards as part of their classes.
“On Saturday (Sabbath), they focused on Spiritual Awards, where they learned about topics such as Boy Jesus, Acts of Kindness, Temperance, the Rainbow Promise, and Creation.
“On Sunday, the Adventurers worked on their Recreational Awards, which included fitness, healthy eating, hygiene, and manners,” Ms Newter said.
More than 20 children, along with 13 teachers, attended the camp.
The theme for the camp was “Jesus Cares for Me,” supported by the church through Adventurer Department.
Ben Keni, a 6-year-old from the Sunbeam Class, expressed his excitement about attending the camp.
“I’m really happy to have joined this camp, especially since it was hosted at our church. One of the things I enjoyed most was participating in the activities over the weekend.”
He said he will continue to attend his classes and look forward to future camps organized by the Adventurer Department.
The next Adventurer camp will be announced once the leaders finalize plans, either by the end of this year or in 2025.
