Hundreds of All Saints parish members gathered yesterday at the All Saints church in Honiara to celebrate the All Saints Feast Day.
The day started with Holy Eucharist in the morning followed by feasting before concluding with entertainments.
The Archbishop of the Anglican Church of Melanesia (ACOM) and the Bishop of Central Melanesia Diocese the Most Rev David Vunagi was the chief celebrant and preacher.
In his sermon the Rev Vunagi highlighted the importance of the work of the Saints.
“Saints are the people who preached the word of God through the ages,” Rev Vunagi said.
He said, Saints have committed and risk their lives for the glory of God, and see how they died.
“The challenge for you and me is how we can imitate the faith of the saints to bring the gospel to the oppress,” His Grace added.
Right Rev Vunagi said, Saints are people who are loyal to God that brings the good news which impact on the lives of people so that populace feel and experience the life of Christ.
“Saints preach about Christ and take Christ to the people.”
The head of the Anglican Communion said; “We must have a purpose in our lives like the Saints, because they bring people to Christ.”
He said Saints’ people live with the faith; they take people to Christ.
“Saints people are not someone who speaks alone; they must show the people how to live according to what God want,” said the Archbishop
Also to commemorate the All Saints Day this year, more than 89 children are confirmed to receive the Holy Communion.
After the Holy Communion, a great feast was hosted for all parishioners and visiting friends.
The highlight of the day was the entertainment provided by the diocesan groups within All Saints parish.
The All Saints chairman Selwyn Hou has thanked the church members for the support and cooperation in successfully hosting the event.
The chairman also acknowledged His Grace the Archbishop for accepting their request and to be part of All Saints family to commemorate the All Saints day.
