LONDON, (FIJI SUN) – Vodafone Fijian 7s star Semi Kunatani has signed a two-year deal with France club, Toulouse.
And coach Ben Ryan has wished him well.
Ryan also anticipated his continued involvement next season as well as the 2016 Rio Olympics.
“Semi goes with our blessing and we wish him all the best next season,” Ryan said.
“He will return for four World Series tournaments and if his form is good enough, he can come back to try to represent Fiji at the Rio Olympics.”
Meanwhile, speaking to Planet Rugby on the signing, Kunatani revealed his reason for taking up Toulouse’s offer.
“I love our Fijian fans and support. I love playing for Fiji but I had to think about my future in rugby, and that it was best for my family and me. Therefore I had to seize the opportunity that was offered me to play at the highest level with Toulouse.”
Focusing on the task at hand with the 2015 London 7s set to kick off in Twickenham this Saturday Ryan maintained winning the series was their objective.
“Obviously we want to win the series. We’re so close to it now and it will take a titanic effort to be the first Fijian team to win two tournaments in two weeks but it’s possible.
“We have won 24 out of 24 pool games this year. A perfect record with three more wins is our aim and for that to happen it’s one game at a time.”
