The new coalition has strongly condemned troubling reports that the residence of Hon. Chachabule Amoi was stoned on Saturday night, allegedly by supporters aligned to the GNUT Government.
In a statement on Sunday, the group said this is not only a criminal act but also a direct attack on democracy and a sign of a desperate government that is losing control of its own supporters.
The statement said this kind of intimidation exposes a dangerous culture where political loyalty is enforced through fear and violence.
“It raises serious questions about the leadership of the current administration and its desperate attempt to hold on to power with a minority government,” it said.
The group appeals to the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force to investigate the matter.
“The people of Solomon Islands deserve leadership that unites, not incites; that governs with integrity, not intimidation.”
