Solomon Islands Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, His Excellency Cornelius Walegerea had officially presented the copy of his Letter of Credentials at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Riyadh on Monday, 15 December 2025.
His presentation signified him as the Solomon Islands Non -Resident Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Ambassador Walgerea is based at the Solomon Islands Embassy in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The Deputy Minister for Protocol Affairs, Mr. Abdulmajeed Al-Smari received the copy of the Letter of Credentials on behalf of His Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
Upon receiving the copy of the Letter of Credentials, the Deputy Minister for Protocol Affairs, Mr. Abdulmajeed Al-Smari warmly welcome and congratulated His Excellency Cornelius Walegerea as the first Non-resident Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Solomon Islands to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The Deputy Minister wished His Excellency success in the performance of his duties in enhancing the bilateral relations and cooperation between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Solomon Islands.
The Deputy Minister further stressed the significance of this ceremony which symbolizes the continued friendship and cooperation between the two countries at present and into the future.
In response, Ambassador Walegerea thanked and acknowledge the support provided by the Government and the people of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for Solomon Islands over the years, in particular for the successful hosting of the 2023 Pacific Games and in the Renewable Energy sector.
His Excellency Walegerea reaffirm the Solomon Islands Government’s commitment to work together and collaborate with Saudi Arabia on issues of common interests as well as areas of mutual benefit for both countries.
His Excellency, Cornelius Walegerea will present his original Letter of Credentials once the official date is confirmed by the Saudi Royal Court which is the Executive Office of the King.
Solomon Islands established diplomatic relations with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on 17 July 2014.
