More than 200 Anglican youths from central and west Kwara’ae, Malaita, have begun preparations for the upcoming Anglican Church of Melanesia’s synod next month in Auki.
Last week, they took part in a rehearsal parade at Buma village in west Kwara’ae.
Secretary of Malaita’s Diocese Philip Akote’e said the gathering is expected to attract a host of youths and church leaders across the province.
He said the theme for the synod is “Training Leadership for Transformation and Development”.
Akote’e said preparations are well underway and he thanked the youth groups who have given their time to prepare for this huge church gathering.
“Everyone is looking forward to a big celebration,” Akote’e said.
The gathering will be held from July 19 to 25 and Archbishop of the Anglican Church of Melanesia, the Right Rev. David Vunagi will be the guest of honour.
