THE National Aquatic Centre will officially open for the public to use as of next week.
A statement from National Sports Council (NSC) said, “we will be open for swimming from 0600h on Tuesday 1 October 2024.”
But before accessing the 50m and 25m pools, interested swimmers are asked to visit the NSC office at the National Aquatic Centre to register.
“With the safety of our patrons being top of mind, we have now secured the safety equipment required for us to open the 50m and 25m pools to the public.
“To facilitate the opening process, we invite interested swimmers to visit our office at the National Aquatic Centre and see our friendly staff to register,” the statement said.
Aquatic Centre are holding registration days from 0900h to 1800h over two days from Sunday 29 September 2024 and Monday 30 September 2024.
This will feature a briefing and orientation of the facility.
“This will include a tour of the swimming areas to orient all clients to the facility, to procedures to follow, bookings and the rules of use.
“This includes each patron being required, for hygiene purposes to use swimming or head caps and swimsuits, as well as use slippers for the pool area.
“Thereafter, we will be open for swimming from 0600h on Tuesday 1 October 2024,” the statement said.
The aquatic centre located at Sports City was built last year before the November Pacific Games.
It was used during the Games for swimming competition and was never used for nearly a year.
