TRIAL did not commence on Firday on the case of two men accused of the robbery of the Automatic Teller Machine (ATM) at the Kwaimani Building, East Honiara in 2014.
The prosecutor in carriage of this matter is engaged in another hearing in the Honiara Magistrate’s Court and therefore could not attend to this matter.
Principal Magistrate Jim Seuika had to adjourn the case to October 10 before another magistrate.
This is for the reason of setting another trial date.
Severio Sulimae and Dilo Faiga were accused of robbing the ATM on the night of 25 July 2014 at the Kwaimani building.
Prosecution alleged the accused and other men arrived in a car allegedly driven by Sulimae that has a fake plate number and used a crow bar to uproot the ANZ machine.
After allegedly uprooting the ATM Machine, they lifted it onto the waiting car and took off with one of the security officers and went to Henderson, where they broke open the machine that contained more than $400,000.
Police further alleged that only more than $200,000 from the top tray was stolen as they could not open the bottom tray.
The stolen ATM machine weighs more than 200 kilograms.
Silas Joe who was previously jointly charged with Faiga and Sulimae is now a prosecution witness and will be giving evidence against these two.
The Public Solicitor’s Office is representing the men while the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution represents the Crown.
