The Pacific Engagement Visa (PEV) Team recently held its first-ever three-day workshop in Gizo, Western Province.
Held at Outback Living on the western side of Gizo town, the program attracted market vendors, community members, and the general public eager to learn more about opportunities under Australia’s Permanent Resident Program.
The visit marked the team’s first stop in their regional outreach, with Western Province chosen as the starting point.
The initiative aims to strengthen cultural exchange, enhance educational opportunities, and expand community ties between Pacific Island nations and Australia.
The Australian Government’s PEV program offers a free support service in participating countries, providing in-person and online assistance during the ballot and visa application process.
One participant told the Solomon Star in an interview on Thursday that the workshop helped them better understand the ballot system, visa requirements, and the job application process needed to meet employment conditions under the program.
“It’s very helpful, especially for those in rural communities, as it shows how to plan and prepare if you want to move and settle in Australia,” the participant said.
The Western Province participants expressed gratitude to the team for bringing the program to their province and acknowledged the significance of being the first group in the Solomon Islands to benefit from the team’s visit.
