The Australian High Commission has opened a new round of project the Solomon Islands – Australia Community Partnerships.
The Solomon Islands-Australia Community Partnerships support community-led projects to improve living standards through small-scale projects like staff houses, toilet blocks, water tanks, solar power, and community halls.
Community Partnerships funding is available to community groups across Solomon Islands, with jointly funded projects with Members of Parliament encouraged.
In 2024, Australia funded a record 100 community level projects across every province of Solomon Islands. This represents more than SBD 23.62 million in direct funding to local hardware and transport businesses who helped deliver the projects.
So far in 2025, Australia has funded 50 community projects, with another 50 planned for the remainer of the year.
Australia’s High Commissioner to Solomon Islands, His Excellency Rod Hilton, said Australia was committed to its partnership with Solomon Islands.
“We are proud to work in partnership with communities across Solomon Islands to deliver locally—led solutions that respond to their priorities,” Hilton said.
“By buying hardware materials and shipping services from local businesses these projects are also boosting the local economy and creating local jobs.”
The Australian High Commission is accepting applications until Sunday 31 August 2025. For more information, please go to https://solomonislands.embassy.gov.au/honi/communitypartnerships.html
