The Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) and China Police Liaison Team (CPLT) have conducted a police awareness talk at the Fighter One community at the back of the Henderson airport runway recently.
Nearly 40 people, including local community leaders, key members of the Crime Prevention Committee (CPC), and people from the community, attended the awareness program.
The purpose of the awareness program is to introduce the Chinese “Fengqiao experience,” a community policing model in China, and tailor it into a Solomon Island concept.
CPLT member Inspector Lin Jiamu said, the approach is more about modelling the community to be more organized with relevant information to manage issues in our communities.
Inspector Jiamu said well-organized communities will be more beneficial when it comes to small funding and the most important one during times of disasters. Information needs to be available to avoid delay due to assessment from our communities when we are in a state of emergency.
PC Saumanu said the Fighter One community is really lucky to have the RSIPF and CPLT open ways to their community and expressed that the “Fengqiao Experience” of China is of great benefit.
