National Volleyball players grateful for new court
BEACH volleyball now has a home to train and prepare for future competitions.
Early this week, Beach volleyball players had their first feel of the newly built beach volleyball court at the Solomon Islands National Institute of Sports (SINIS).
Solomon Islands Volleyball Federation (SIVF) president Morris Maitaki is very impressed following the completion of the beach volleyball venue.
He said this is a dream come true which will motivate beach volleyball players.
“Finally the time has come for our beach volleyball athletes to feel, touch and dive in real beach volleyball courts.
“Our athletes had a wonderful training session on a new beach courts at the SINIS high performance facilities.
“Thank you so much Aaron Alsop for making sure the facilitating of this project has now become a reality.
“Our biggest thank and appreciation to our National government for providing such initiatives that would change the life of so many young men and women that aspire to excel in sport especially beach volleyball,” he stated.
Maitaki added it has been so long since beach volleyball has had a proper venue but has been winning medals for Solomon Islands in past regional competitions.
Now that there is a proper training venue, Maitaki believes it will give more confidence to the players, at the same time develop more players.
“Beach Volleyball has been winning medals in past games even without proper facilities.
“Hence, with the availability of a new world class court for our use , we are so confident that we will produce and developed more skilled players that will provide pathways for them to succeed,” he added.
Maitaki also thanked the players for their patience all along when there was no proper beach volleyball facility.
