SOLO Environment Beautification (SEB) – a charitable organisation tasked with the aim of planting and beautifying Honiara city and its highway and streets is appealing to the members of the public and city residents to respect its work and projects.
The plea came in light of growing theft and vandalism on the plants, flowers and pot-plants.
A spokesperson for SEB told the Solomon Star over the weekend that people are chopping off flowers and palms being planted along the highway in Honiara.
Not only that but there are incident of thefts involving flowers and plants.
“Some people are removing newly grown plants from the pot plants and its unacceptable and disappointing.
“This is bad practise and must be stopped.”

The spokesperson added, there a lots of work being put in by contracted SEB staff to grow the flowers, plant the palms and maintain cleanliness along with the city’s highway to help beautify the streets and highways.
Over the past weeks and months, SEB had been busy transforming the city’s landscape by planting flowers, palms and placing pot plants with grown palms along the highway.
This was prior to the Pacific Islands Forum (PIF) meeting.
However, it was noticed that some of these plants have been removed and chopped off, the spokesperson added.
Because of the current situation, SEB is appealing for respect.
“We are appealing for our city residents to have respect for all the flowers, palm trees and trees,” the spokesperson concluded.
