Bekabeka Adventist High School (BAHS) on Ngatokae Island, East Marovo, Western Province raised $68,367.50 during a spiritual concert on Saturday night at the school.
The aim of the concert was to raise funds to help support some of the school’s aging infrastructure project.
The school is operated under the Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) Education Provider and has more than 200 students attending forms one to six.
It was a special weekend for the school as they were graced by a group of ex-Betikama students known as ‘ML 90s’ who spent the weekend with the students.
The group of about 20 traveled from Honiara on Friday. They spent the weekend supporting the school to sing and conducted some of the church programs from the Friday’s vesper the Sabbath services programs.
The concert was held on Saturday night and was also livestreamed.
During the concert offerings were collected when the students, staff, ML 90s and other groups performed.
Parents, guardians, relatives, friends and supporters turned up to enjoy the night giving their offerings to help support the cause.

Members of the ML 90s as a token of their support towards the school’s plan donated $50,000.00 in cash to the school that evening.
A spokesperson for the group said, members of the group also found ways to raise funds to help Bekabeka school.
And they are so humbled to visit the school, spent the weekend with the students and joined the concert.
Ex-Betikama students have also been asked to support Bekabeka school in their fundraising drive by depositing their offering to the school account.
The group is due back in Honiara Sunday evening.
School administration expressed huge appreciation to members of ML 90s for their generious donation which will go towards the school’s ongoing development plans to renovate some of the aging infrastructure.
The school was established over 28 years ago.
The school suffered subsequent damage during an earthquake in late 2021.
And some of the staff homes, classes and office space were impacted.
Because of this the school has embarked on a mission to rebuild and renovate some of the run down facilities.
The school has more than 200 students in forms 1 to 6.
As part of the SDA education system, it aims to provide quality education and emphasises the values of academic success, respect, and a strong work ethic in preparation for a productive life after the student graduates.
Pastor Kituru Ghemu first established Bekabeka Central Gatokae Primary School at its current site in 1964, as a primary school until 1995.
In 1995 Pastor Titus Rore, the then Education Director of Western Pacific Union Mission called Pastor Kituru and asked him to establish a junior central school.
Late Dr Haynes Posala and lawyer, Late Presley Watts, were asked by Pastor Kituru to establish the high school which was started in 1996.
In 1995 Grades 1-5 moved from the high school site to Sobiro with Year 6 moving there the following year.
The land for the school site was generously given by the chiefs of Gatokae to the Western Pacific Union Mission because of their commitment to education.
