Dear Editor – I am writing to share an important warning with our community regarding a concerning trend I have recently observed on social media platforms, particularly Facebook and Telegram.
Many individuals are promoting a business model that claims one can “earn money online without investment.”
Last week, I received a message encouraging me to join such a scheme, complete with phrases like “free launch pass it on.” It’s crucial to clarify that I have no interest in participating in this model. It appears to be a form of multi-level marketing (MLM), which often raises several red flags.
The reality is that these schemes typically resemble a money game, where individuals are led to believe they can earn significant profits without selling actual products or offering genuine services.
From a moral and legal standpoint, I cannot support such practices. We must remain vigilant and aware to avoid making mistakes that could jeopardize our financial well-being.
It’s important to recognize that business models centered around recruitment and commissions—where money is made without any real investment—are generally unsustainable and can often veer into illegal territory. We should commit to adhering to lawful business practices and strictly follow our anti-money laundering rules and regulations.
To my fellow citizens in the Solomon Islands: I urge you to exercise caution and conduct thorough research before joining any business ventures that seem too good to be true. Together, let’s foster a community that makes informed decisions and prioritizes ethical practices.
