Boe Community High School (CHS) in South Choiseul successfully held its annual graduation ceremony and prize giving day for its year 13 students this week.
The event was held under the theme, “Rising together for a better future,” honoured students completing year 13 and those receiving academic awards.
Families, students, staff and community leaders turn up to witness the colourful event that was staged at the Boe church building.
Speaking at the ceremony school principal Napthaly Pitakaji, highlighted the profound relevance of this year’s theme.
“It reminds us that progress is not the result of individuals effort alone but a conductive commitment, shared vision and mutual support,” he said.
Pitakaji commended the students’ perseverance and discipline, urging them to carry forward the values instilled during their time at school.
He acknowledged teachers, parents and guardians for their steadfast support and valuable partnership.
“Your unwavering commitment is served as the cornerstone of our school success,” he said.
He further emphasized the need to invest in education, advocate for equity to ensure every child is given the opportunity to thrive.
Concluding his statement, Pitakaji issued a call to rise together with purpose and unity towards a future defined by hope, innovation and shared prosperity.
In his address, the guest of honour, Hon. David Deva, Member of Provincial Assembly for Viviru ward acknowledged the hard work of teachers, and development partners in ensuring that students receive support and quality education service.
“To all our teachers, this year’s program is a clear manifestation of quality leadership initiative and the professional attributes you have displayed throughout the year,” he said.
He urged the graduation class to be persistent dreamers, stating; “when you actually get to greater heights, you will be able to see further.
“Learn from your mistakes and never lose hope, your certificate is not the end but just the beginning of your journey,” he said.
Deva emphasized that education is the critical investment for reducing poverty and building a peaceful nation.
He further called on the students to be a light in their communities, displaying value and quality empowered to them over the years.
Furthermore, the speech also carried significant news for educators, announcing the government’s intention to implement a new teacher’s scheme of service by early 2026.
The ceremony concluded with heartfelt congratulations to the year 13 class who are now preparing for their coming national examination in a fortnight.
