Bank South Pacific (BSP) is not considering any move to close its agency in Kira Kira, Makira Ulawa Province.
Country Head for BSP Solomon Islands David Anderson made the response following an article in this paper on Thursday 26th March which reported the Kira Kira agency is facing closure.
“I categorically deny BSP is considering the closure of its Kira Kira agency,” he said.
Mr. Anderson explained BSP has an agreement in place with Makira Ulawa Provincial Government to operate the agency and as part of that agreement the agent must operate under certain terms and conditions.
“Our staff regularly travels to our agencies across the provincial areas of the Solomon Islands to ensure the terms of the agency agreement are being followed,”.
The trip recently to Kira Kira was for that purpose and also to introduce the service of Personal Loans to our customers in Kira Kira, he said.
Mr. Anderson said BSP has a good relationship with its agent in Kira Kira and looks forward to increased business with that agent.
“As mentioned in the article I am aware that at times, poor telecommunication signal impacts the effectiveness of the agency and we also look forward to improved telecommunication signal in Kira Kira in the near future,” he said.
