LAST week, Buruku School held a successful “Education Week” at the school campus, bringing toegther people from Ughele’s six zones to assist the school in maintaining its existing infrastructures and building new ones.
Buruku School is located in Ughele Village on South Rendova in the Western Province.
The Education Week was for both the Buruku Primary and Secondary School divisions.
During that week, maintenance was carried out on ablution blocks and classrooms, while new footpaths were built and solar street light poles and panels were installed.
These six zones of Ughele are Elomana, Buruku 1, Buruku 2, Kobi 1, Kobi 2 and called DDPJ (Diou, Dongkale, Pagharama and Jungna).
Buruku Seventh-Day Adventist Church Communication Officer Broughton Dokese confirmed the Education Week to Solomon Star in a brief interview last week.
He said each zone within Ughele Village was assigned certain tasks to perform during the Education Week.
The task assigned to DDPJ, the zone which Mr Dokese comes from, was the installation of six street solar poles and panels.
The solar poles and panels were donated by the Soltuna Sales and Marketing Manager Kenwood Harry, who hails from Ughele Village.
Mr Dokese said other zones carried out the maintenance on the ablution blocks and classrooms that required repairs and also constructed footpaths.
The Education Week demonstrated the cooperative spirit of the people of Ughele to support the education sector.
According to the Seventh-Day Adventist website, the “Education Week” is to provide a space where families can deepen their understanding of the Christian faith – its principles and values – which allow for the consolidation of a solid home and positive influence on all spheres of society.
