The Electoral Commission Office has announced the Candidates who will contest the West Guadalcanal Constituency Parliamentary By-Election and Paripao Ward Provincial By-Election.
A total of five candidates mostly male are contesting the Paripao Ward. They are all contesting as Independent candidates.
Six candidates are vying for a slot in the West Guadalcanal Parliamentary seat. Former Member of Parliament (MP) Anthony Veke is also one of the candidates. He is contesting under OUR Party. Of the six, a female is amongst the contenders.
Only two are contesting under a Party banner while the rest contest as Independent.
The by-elections will be held on Wednesday June 4, 2025.
It was necessary following the passing of the two candidates in the past weeks and months.
