Visiting South Guadalcanal Villager, Rughu Poli is calling on the government to ensure recipients of State Funds are accountable and transparent about how they use the money.
Mr Poli said many recipients of State Funds are city dwellers who have been given the money because their proposals are based on rural development concepts.
He said the recipients have spent the funds not on the proposed projects, but on private businesses in Honiara.
He said he is calling on the government to ensure recipients of State Funds are accountable and transparent about how they have used the money because what they have done is the same as what some Members of Parliament have been accused of.
Mr Poli said it is one of the major reasons that although state funds have been channeled through the rural areas, they have made little or no impacts at all on rural development.
Meanwhile, he said he wants to know what has happened to the Agriculture Fund the government wants to give to farmers to improve their agriculture businesses including cocoa and coconut ventures.
Mr Poli who runs a cocoa and copra business on the Weather-Coast said he has requested agriculture funding to help him buy more wet cocoa and copra, but so far the help does not seem to be forthcoming.
He said his cocoa and copra dryer is now rotting away at home.
