A LOCAL concerned citizen in East Honiara Mr. Milton Simon Ulu’ue says that Honorable Leader of Opposition is always negative against the current ruling DCGA regime.
He said ever since he was appointed as the leader of opposition, never at any time he ever uttered support to the government and its effort to build the country.
“Most critically at this critical time of COVID-19 community transmission, when all leaders should come together and fight the pandemic, we always hear him talk negative about the effort the government and its officials are doing to manage and contain the spread of the virus.”
Mr Ulu’ue said, while he understand his position as the official opposition of the government, at certain times in the country when it is going through challenging times like what the country is going through now, there is no time to play politics but work together to fight the pandemic.
He said he is always disturbed by his unhelpful comments, none appreciative news release in any work the government is doing for the people in the country.
“Openly opposing each other only promotes hatred amongst people in the country as our leaders
“I have no doubt that many people in the country are taking sides on your very media releases, some to support his comments and others to hate the leaders in the government.
“We are looking to you as our leaders. What you say and do are what we are following. It saddens me whether we realize it or not, we are building this country according to what you are releasing in the media,” he said.
Already he said, this is wide spread in the communities and individuals, just look at their face book, you will see hate speeches, and negative talks. One such output of these things is the recent November 21 rioting and looting in Honiara
A true leader he said should be one that is appreciative of the effort the government is taking and donor for supporting the government.
He said he expects both the government and opposition should come together in such situation to solve the challenge facing the country now.
“The lasting benefit in taking this cause of action is that, all people in the country will want to work together with all leaders and amongst each other in the country.”
At this juncture, Mr Ulu’ue said, he looks forward for the government and opposition to come together and work together and not to fight each other, play politic as you are all elected to lead the people by working together and not to point fingers on each other.
“May God Save Solomon Islands,” he concluded.
