Member of Parliament for Central Honiara, Moffat Fugui says the issue of Honiara City boundary should be discussed thoroughly.
He said this during the swearing in of the newly elected city councilors last week.
Fugui said the issue of Honiara boundary is that, it cannot be extended further and for decades, Guadalcanal, as host of the city, has not been acknowledged.
“Least we forget, Honiara sits on Guadalcanal but nothing has been done on this part for recognition,” Fugui said.
“I acknowledge the presence of the newly elected Guadalcanal Premier and would like to allude to this sensitive issue,” he added.
Fugui said it is time the national government and Honiara City Council consider this and seek some means to accommodate this on whatever grounds necessary.
As Central Honiara MP, Fugui is an ex-officio member of the council.
Other ex-officio members are West and East Honiara MPs and the premier of Guadalcanal.
