MEMBER of Parliament (MP) and Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) is being called on to complete medical clinic at Burnscreek east of Honiara.
Joyce Boykin, a member of Mercy School Board and Director of Read Solomon said this during an interview with the paper on Tuesday.
She said, that people living there are in need of a medical clinic which was funded by MP for east Honiara last year.
“There is a real need at Burnscreek for the medical clinic that was started last year by the Member for Parliament for East Honiara to be completed.
“There are about 10,000 people there, according to World Vision estimates which needs the medical clinic to be completed,” she said.
She highlighted that when children are sick, parents have to carry them about a kilometre to the main road and then catch a bus to Kukum clinic or the National Referral Hospital for medical treatment.
“This kind of trip is hard if you are sick, especially a child. Mr Ete has stated to community members that all the material for the building has been purchased.
“If all the materials could be given to the leaders of the community or Mercy Christian School, the completion of the building could be easily supervised. Parents are willing to help to finish this project which is really needed,” she said.
She said that groups have talked to Mr Ete, but nothing has happened and the building sits there waiting to be finished.
“Please Mr Ete, let us finish the building. Give the material to reliable community leaders so that Burnscreek can finally have a medical clinic,” Mrs Boykin said.
