LOCAL organisations in Malaita Province can apply for the Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI).
CFLI Australia-based representative, Ms Marie Claude Codsi introduced the Fund at the Malaita Youth Hub Centre in Auki last week.
According to a statement, the session provided an opportunity for attendees to learn more about the funding initiative, including its criteria, delivery approaches, eligibility requirements and the timeline for funding applications.
Provincial Youth Coordinator Frank Samo expressed gratitude to the Canada Fund team for visiting Auki and sharing information about the grant opportunities.
Community-Based Organisations (CBOs) across Malaita, members of the Malaita Provincial Assembly and officials attended the session.
CFLI funds small high-impact projects in over 120 countries that are eligible for Official Development Assistance (ODA).
The CFLI has an annual budget of $26.8 million, with projects averaging $31,000 each.
Local organisations plan and carry out projects, while the Canadian High Commission selects and approves them.
An Expression of Interest (EOI) for the fund will be advertised soon.
