THE man accused of sexually abusing his four daughters aged between two years and two months old from 2017 to last July in Western Province is awaiting a trial date.
The 36 year-old man who cannot be named to protect his daughters’ identities is facing four counts of sexual intercourse with a child under 15.
He had already pleaded not guilty to the four charges when he appeared before the High Court at Gizo during a court circuit last December.
This was after his matter was committed from the Gizo Magistrate’s Court to the High Court after a committal hearing was conducted.
The pre-trial documents in this matter is yet to be finalised and once finalised the pre-trial conference will be orally made in court.
The trial dates will also be set at that time.
However, that is pending a High Court circuit to Gizo.
The accused is facing charges relating to allegations between 1 January 2017 and 31 July 2021.
Prosecution alleged the accused had unlawful sexual intercourse with his step daughter and three biological daughters when they were only two years old, one year and 11 months and two months old.
The first alleged incident happened in January 2017 where the suspect allegedly had unlawful sexual intercourse with his two year-old step-daughter at their home village.
The mother was said to be away at the Hospital to give birth to their second born child.
The second incident occurred on the 10 January 2019 in which the suspect allegedly had sexual intercourse with his second born daughter at their home village while her mother and third born daughter was away from home.
The victim was also only two years old at that time.
The third incident happened on two different dates in July this year where the suspect had sex with his third and fourth child.
The two victims were aged one year and 11 months and two months old.
The mother was at that time in their kitchen busy preparing food.
It was alleged the accused threatened to kill his wife and the four children if his wife reported the matter to the police.”
The mother of the victims, however, went and lodged her complaint to the Munda Police Station which saw the arrest of the suspect on 9 August this year.
