ABOUT 18 youths from Saint Peter’s Catholic Parish in Gizo, Western Province, successfully completed a weeklong first aid training recently.
The Solomon Islands Red Cross Society Red Cross Branch in Gizo conducted the training for both male and female youths.
The training was part of the branch’s work of ensuring communities have first aid knowledge and skills to be able to respond to an emergency situation.
Likewise, it is also an opportunity taken by the National Red Cross Society to assess the ability of its Gizo Branch’s First Aid Instructors in conducting first aid training for both communities and firms in Western Province.
Sister Salome Faloamae of St Peter Catholic Parish Gizo expressed that the training was timely for the youths.
“We are thankful to you (Red Cross First Aid team) for the two-day training conducted for us over the past two days.
“I know we have learned skills and knowledge in First Aid that will help us whenever we come across any situation that requires giving first aid help to any casualty,” Sister Faloamae said.
At the training, the youths underwent both theory and practical lessons.
