Residents and villagers along the coastal areas of Choiseul have moved to higher ground after the Solomon Islands Meteorological Service put Choiseul on an orange code-alert.
The residents of Taro Station have been trying to move to higher ground as unusually high tides hit Taro shores at around 7:30 pm.
According to the Solomon Islands Meteorological Service, an orange code alert is currently in effect for Choiseul, Western, and Isabel provinces with dangerous rips and currents expected in other provinces.
As of now, people are struggling to move out of Taro Station, as the unusual tides continue.
Also at Tepazaka, ward 6, Northwest Choiseul they also experienced unusual tides.
The memories of the 2007 earthquake and tsunami has triggered residents to evacuate without delay.
