Couple of shops in Honiara have started displaying Christmas paraphernalia as the festive season fever is fast approaching.
Paraphernalia refers to a collection of equipment and items related to a certain activity. In this case, the upcoming activity is the Christmas.
A visit by the Solomon Star around Honiara city last week revealed few shops are not wasting their time as the countdown towards the Christmas day is gaining momentum.
As observed these shops have modified their business strategy to prepare for the Christmas season now by displaying Christmas related products in their shops.
These shops on normal occasions usually trade in other items like stationeries and clothes. But now they have shifted their approach and started displaying Christmas wares including hats, headbands, balloons, Christmas trees, and firecrackers.
Though there’s still six weeks until the Christmas week, these shops have already started selling festive accessories.
And its part of building up the momentum and excitement towards the festive season, a mother said.

Our Telecom had also erected its usual Christmas tree infront of its head-office opposite the BSP Heritage Office.
One of the shop owners said they hope to cash in this Christmas through sales of the Christmas products.
A customer who bought some Christmas wares said, she is doing early shopping to avoid the crowd in the coming weeks.
“I’m here to buy some Christmas balls, wreaths and lights to decorate my house.
“We are about to celebrate Christmas so it’s better to come early and avoid overcrowding and also cut down some stress.”
This year the Christmas day falls on Thursday 25th December 2025 and everyone is excited to celebrate the event.
