The Super League defending champions Central Coast Football Club dominated Kossa FC in a thrilling match, securing a 5-0 victory over KOSSA FC on Saturday at the Lawson Tama stadium.
The game showcased Central Coast’s exceptional skills, with the team controlling the tempo and creating numerous scoring opportunities.
Kossa FC struggled to find their footing, ultimately succumbing to Central Coast’s relentless pressure.
Both teams kicked off the match with intensity and pressure in the early minutes of the first half until Joses Nawo broke the deadlock after cutting in-field from the right wing, and placing a left-footed shot inside the far post to give Coast the lead 11 minutes into the first half.
Nawo’s experience shone through again to score his second when he latched onto a through ball and chipped the onrushing goalkeeper to put our boys 2 goals to the good.
Clifford Fafale then scored his lone goal to end the first half 3-0 in favour of Central Coast FC.
Kossa despite the 3 goals down also created few scoring chances in the first half only to miss their scoring chances.
Central Coast started the 2nd half with the same intensity as the first half. KOSSA FC fought back to get back into the game, but goals from Hudyn Irodao and Abraham Morgan eventually put the game to bed in what was a great team performance from our boys.
A club statement after the match said they will now forget the match and switch their focus to their next match.
Meanwhile, the victory pushes Central Coast to second place with 33 points with a goal difference of +38, closing in on the table leaders Malaita Kingz who remains on top with 37 points.
KOSSA FC after their defeat to the defending champions droped to fourth place with 30 points and a goal difference of +19.
Green Shield also kept their title hope alive beating Southerns United 4-1 and now settles with 33 points on the third place.
Malaita Kingz, Central Coast, Green Shields and Kossa FC are the only 4 contenders in the Super league as the final round is underway.
