A MAN accused of breaking into the office of a cocoa exportation company in Northwest Guadalcanal and stealing around $20,000 in cash last month will plea take his plea on August 26.
Francis Tandakusu, 24, was charged with one count of House Breaking.
He appeared in the Honiara Magistrate Court on Tuesday, where the prosecution requested an adjournment to serve disclosures on the defence counsel.
Principal Magistrate Emily Zazariko Vagibule Pakoa, despite of expressing her disappointment at the request for an adjournment, granted one but warned that it would be the final one.
She also cautioned the prosecution against requesting unnecessary adjournments, directing them to serve disclosures by the end of business on Wednesday.
Tandakusu will then enter his plea next Tuesday.
The alleged incident occurred between 2 and 3 July this year at Tamboko.
The prosecution alleged that Tandakusu entered into the company’s premises and broke into the office building where he stole around $20,000 in cash.
The owner of the company was informed by the company workers on the same day of the incident and they started moving around to gather information and seek assistance from the White River police station.
The office was closed from that date of the incident until July 4 at 10am.
On July 5, the White River police apprehended Tandakusu at Hammock beach, where he was found drinking beers with friends in a car.
He allegedly still had with him the blue plastic bag that the company used to store cash.
During the police interview, Tandakusu admitted having committed the offence.
