A 60 Kilometers road is currently being constructed in East Guadalcanal Constituency starting from Marau Sound to Avuavu.
Member of Parliament (MP) for the constituency, Bradley Tovosia told the Solomon Star yesterday the construction of the road is progressing well.
“Last weekend, the road has reached Naho primary school and is expected to reach Avuavu this weekend,” Mr Tovosia said.
He added that the road is to give access for the people of the constituency for travelling using truck within the area.
“At the moment I am using the constituency money to fund that road.”
He said that government has promised him $3million but is yet to receive the fund from the Ministry of Finance.
“As long we receive that money, it will help a lot in this road construction.”
He explained that he will use $1.2 for the excavator that is currently working on the road and sum amount of money for the tipper truck.
Mr Tovosia said landowners provided support through the provision of free gravel.
“I am happy with the support of the resource owners towards this road.
“I am sure as soon as this road is completed, people will have easy life when travelling to and from Marau Sound by truck.
He further added that after they have completed this one, they will continue on towards south Guadalcanal Constituency.
“This is not for political gains but it is for my people to have such important facilities in the constituency.”
