Dear Editor – I am writing to express my growing concern over the erosion of human rights and poor governance in the Solomon Islands.
It is increasingly clear that corruption is undermining the fundamental rights of our citizens, particularly in rural areas, where people often lack access to basic services such as education and healthcare.
Despite promises of development, many government officials continue to prioritize personal gain over the needs of the public.
The lack of transparency in government dealings has created an environment where accountability is scarce, and the most vulnerable members of our society suffer the most.
It is crucial that we, as a nation, demand better leadership, one that upholds human rights, promotes justice, and addresses corruption. Only then can we hope for a better future for all Solomon Islanders.
Yours sincerely,
