Councilor for Kola Ward in Honiara, Badley Scott has provided assistance to a women and youth group in Gegema community in the Kola ward, Central Honiara.
The assistance in the form of cash was delivered to them in a brief visit to the community
As part of his development plans towards his ward, Cr. Scott said the funding is purposely to support community based groups achieve their targeted activities
“The intention of the ward visitation is to meet with the established groups in the community and provide financial support to them
“The ward committee and I have in place our strategic plan which we will be carrying out this year and our aim is to provide similar assistance towards every community within the Kola ward,” he said
He added that what they are providing is for development purposes and encouraged the groups to use the funds for its intended purpose
Chairman of the ward committee Frank Livae further noted that other communities within the ward will be receiving similar assistance
Livae said the ward visitation will be carried out until the end of this year
Meanwhile, Community Leader Sam Poma thanked Cr. Scott and the ward committee for the funds, stating that it is a first time for such a leader to pay a visit and support the groups within their community
