THE alleged leader of the defunct Isatabu Freedom Movement (IFM), John Damusi, is set to face trial tomorrow on Thursday.
Damusi is facing one count of Conspiracy to Commit Arson.
His trial was initially scheduled to start last Monday but was adjourned to the next day to allow the prosecution to summon their witness.
However, it was adjourned to the next day to allow the prosecution to summon their witnesses.
On the next day, the defense counsel was not available due to compassionate leave.
As a result, the trial before Principal Magistrate Elma Veenah Rizzu Hilly was adjourned to tomorrow – Thursday.
During the trial, the prosecution will call only one witness.
According to the prosecution, Damusi allegedly conducted meetings with former militants to discuss grievances and plan attacks on critical infrastructure.
This allegedly involved planning to burn down state-owned properties, including the Mamara Housing Estate Building, on 15 May 2023.
