A four-day Digital Content Creation Training for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and freelancers successfully concluded in Gizo on Friday, boosting digital skills and e-commerce awareness in Western Province.
The training equipped participants with practical skills in storytelling, scripting, video production, audio and lighting techniques, as well as digital content development. Participants also took part in hands-on activities and group work, allowing them to apply newly acquired knowledge to real business and creative needs.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, Mr. Lonsdale Lungana from the Ministry of Commerce thanked participants for their commitment and active engagement throughout the four-day workshop.
Mr. Lungana described the training as fruitful and expressed hope that the knowledge and skills gained would assist participants in promoting their small businesses and other ventures they may invest in.
“This workshop has been very productive, and I hope the skills gained will help participants individually to grow and promote their businesses,” he said.
Mr. Kedrian Ishmael Vilibasia, Principal Investment Officer, delivered remarks on behalf of the Western Provincial Government (WPG), including the Honourable Premier, Provincial Secretary (PS), and Deputy Provincial Secretary (DPS).

He said the programme reflects the provincial government’s strong commitment to developing a digitally skilled workforce and empowering entrepreneurs, youth, and professionals to compete in an increasingly digital economy.
“E-commerce is no longer an option; it is a necessity. Today’s certificate holders are now better equipped to seize new opportunities, expand their markets, and contribute meaningfully to provincial and national development,” Mr. Vilibasia said.
He also acknowledged the dedication of the trainers, organising team, and partner institutions for ensuring the success of the programme, adding that their expertise has made a lasting impact.
During the training, the E-commerce Implementation Unit (EIU) met with Deputy Provincial Secretary Mr. Collin Zamu to provide updates on the programme and discuss opportunities to further advance e-commerce development in Western Province.
The programme concluded with a certificate presentation ceremony, during which all participants received certificates for completing the training.
The EIU reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with provincial governments and partners to build capacity, raise awareness, and support the adoption of e-commerce across Solomon Islands.
