Smash Down Barriers (SDB) Disability Table Tennis Program has rolled out its 2026 program at Tamone community, Lunga in Malango Ward, Central Guadalcanal.
SDB confirmed to Star Sport on Wednesday said they kicked off 2026 program rollout this week to community, schools and special development centers in and around Honiara.
The first for the program to reach out to is the Tamone community at Lunga in east Honiara.
According to SDB the program aims to:
1: Increase physical activities of young girls, boys and youths through sport table tennis;
2: Give second opportunities for persons with disability to play sport and life and healthy lifestyle and well-being; and
3: Gender inclusion for girls and persons with disability.
SDB confirmed that their first session one was on shake hand grips and ready position as per demanded by the members of community.
Attending the opening session for 2025 at Tamone community is Kevin Olea the SDB coordinator together with Para national athlete Rodney Satini who is the SDB sport development officer.
Satini who given opportunity to share how sport table tennis has change him and the community of Green Valley. Satini further encouraged everyone that table tennis can play anywhere and by any person regardless of age, gender, ability, and strength.
The SDB next session is set for Thursday 8th January 2025 but yet to confirm the community that they will visit.
