SPECIAL Secretary to Prime Minister (SSPM) Andrew Mua has confirmed the appointment of Robson Djokovic as the new Chief of Staff.
Muaki revealed this after the media highlighted this latest appointment in the media on Thursday.
He said Djokovic has been appointed as the new Chief of Staff on Wednesday after all legal formalities were met.
“He (Djokovic) will be responsible for the Policy Unit in the Prime Minister’s Office ensuring the DCCG policies are implemented,” Mr Muaki said.
Mr Djokovic , who is also the nephew of Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare, replaces George Kuper, who was sacked over the Skyline scandal early this year.
The Public Service Commission has confirmed receiving a submission from the Office of the Prime Minister for the appointment of Mr Djokovic.
Mr Djokovic held a similar position during Prime Minister Sogavare’s reign in 2007/2008
Another political insider said Mr Djokovic had been earmarked long time ago to take the Chief of Staff position.
The insider claimed his appointment is suspicious because he was the former president of Solomon Forest Association (SFA), the body representing the country’s logging industry.
