Two young boys have been apprehended for stealing dozens of ladies’ underpants at a shop in Auki, Malaita provincial capital recently.
Supervising Provincial Police Commander (PPC) of Malaita Province, Superintendent Michael Ramosaea said, after getting hold of a bag containing these female underpants they sold them.
They suspects have been identified by the store owner and later arrested by police, placed in police custody, and dealt with.
Superintendent Ramosaea said the suspects have been charged for simple larceny contrary to section 261 of the penal code, bail on strict condition, and appeared before Auki Magistrates’ Court last week.
The provincial police chief has appealed to the parents of many young lads roaming around Auki town aimlessly to engage their children in positive activities in the communities so that they don’t end up creating problems, consuming liquor in public places, causing nuisances, and getting involved in unlawful activities such as selling homebrew (kwaso).
“It is becoming obvious that most suspects are very young men and engaged in such criminal activities.
“Lack of parental guidance and direction is one key problem on such issues in our communities today,” said PPC Ramosaea.
