SOLOMON Islands students studying at Divine Word University are calling on the government to pay their second semester allowances.
This came after they are on month in class, but are still to receive their allowances.
One of the students told Solomon Star that they inquired with student attaché in Port Moresby, Clair Damutalau, but she said their allowances are still processed in Honiara.
As such the student said the Ministry of Finance and Treasury need to fast rack their allowances so they can receive it quickly.
The Solomon Star understands Solomon Islands students studying at University of National Resource and Environment (UNRE) in Vudal campus, East New Britain and Maritime College in Madang have not also received their allowances.
National Training Unit director, Clement Tito said their allowances are still processed at Ministry of Finance.
Tito said when exactly the allowances will be ready is up to the Ministry of Finance.
“If their allowances are ready this week, then the students should receive their allowances,” he said.
