THE Member of Parliament (MP) for East Are’Are, Hon. Peter Kenilorea Jnr. has successfully completed a week-long tour of his constituency while announcing the constituency will receive $6.8 million in funding for Constituency Development Fund (CDF), fully financed by the Solomon Islands Government (SIG)..
The tour took place from March 24 to April 3, 2025.
The tour provided an opportunity for the MP and his office team to meet with local communities to discuss key issues affecting them and to explore possible solutions moving forward.
During the visit, several important topics were addressed, with a particular focus on the new Constituency Development Fund (CDF) Act and its implementation in the region.
In a media release, Hon. Kenilorea highlighted that this year, the constituency will receive $6.8 million in funding.
This marks a shift from previous years, when the funding had been supported by Taiwan.
He explained that the People’s Republic of China (PRC) had previously funded Taiwan’s contributions, but this support ceased in 2023.

Hon. Kenilorea also discussed the creation of the new Constituency Development Committee (CDC) under the CDF Act.
The committee will focus on prioritizing income-generating projects aimed at improving the livelihoods of the people in East Are Are.
The MP reassured communities that ongoing programs addressing sanitation, water supply, housing, school fees, and sea transport would continue to receive support.
In addition, the MP welcomed feedback from the communities, encouraging them to suggest potential amendments to current laws, including the CDF Act, and to propose new legislation that would empower the people of East Are’Are and the Solomon Islands as a whole.
The tour served as an important opportunity for Hon. Kenilorea to strengthen his connection with constituents and gain valuable insights into their needs and aspirations for the future.
