About 12 Early Childhood Education (ECE) / kindergarten teachers from the Catholic Diocese of Gizo who were trained from 2012-2013 were awarded ECE Introductory Certificates.
His Lordship, Bishop Luciano Capelli SDB last Thursday presented the certificates to the participant.
The last workshop was held from Monday 22nd -24th September 2014.
It was well facilitated by the two Italian volunteers Ms Paula Besta and Caterina Zaffignani and also the Secretary for the Catholic Education Gizo, Mrs Wryne Bennett.
There were 17 Kindy Teachers from the 7 Kindergarten of the Diocese of Gizo

Their main focus was on importance of body development and proper nutrition for the growing child and how to help children to build their self-image and basic Hygiene also Importance of exercise and games.
The participants also underwent training on how to facilitate the thinking in children and developing games which related to cognitive development like memory, dominoes, seriating, logic and classification with how to encourage language development in children using different modes and so as construction of memory games.
Speaking on behalf of the participants, Rachael Jio said, “the training is not the end but a new beginning for us teachers under the Authority of the Catholic Diocese”. She also encouraged her fellow colleagues to apply the skills and knowledge that they have gained.
Bishop Luciano Capelli while congratulating the teachers promised to support the teachers and urged them to help their communities through their skills.
