The Solomon Islands Electoral Commission (SIEC) has successfully concluded its week-long End-Year Review and Finalization of the proposed Structural and Functional Review 2025, marking an important milestone in strengthening the Commission’s institutional readiness for the years ahead.
The review program was conducted from Monday 8 to Friday 12 December 2025, bringing together all SIEC staff to reflect on achievements during the year, address operational challenges, resolve functional and structural misalignment, identify priority procurement needs, and set clear operational plans for 2026.
The sessions provided a platform for each work unit to critically analyse and contribute to the proposed organizational structure and functions, while also presenting achievements, identifying challenges, and outlining priority activities for the coming year. This inclusive process ensured alignment between the Commission’s mandate, its internal structures, and future operational demands.
Chief Electoral Officer, Mr Jasper Highwood Anisi, commended staff for their commitment and professionalism throughout the review process, noting that the exercise is critical in ensuring the Commission remains well-organised, effective, and prepared to meet future electoral and institutional challenges.
Sharing similar sentiments, Deputy Chief Electoral Officer Ms Christina Mitini highlighted the importance of the review, stating that its successful completion represents a significant step forward in SIEC’s ongoing efforts to modernize and professionalize its operations.
Ms Mitini further emphasized that by aligning organizational structures, clarifying roles and responsibilities, and integrating both election and non-election functions, the Commission is strengthening its ability to remain responsive, efficient, and accountable to the people of the Solomon Islands.
The End-Year Review also enabled the Commission to finalize and align its proposed functions with its organizational structure and to clearly identify key activities and priorities for 2026. The program concluded with a staff appreciation and Christmas gathering, recognizing the team’s dedication, resilience, and collective achievements throughout a challenging year.
The outcomes of the End-Year Review will guide SIEC’s operations and priorities in 2026, supporting the Commission’s continued commitment to delivering free, fair, and transparent elections for the people of the Solomon Islands.
