Prime Minister (PM) Jeremiah Manele on Monday received a courtesy call from the country’s Ambassador to the United State of America and Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Her Excellency Mrs. Jane Waetara.
Her Excellency Waetara also accredited as Solomon Islands High Commissioner to Canada.
The courtesy call was to brief the Prime Minister on the tentative program for his upcoming engagement at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) later this month.
The Prime Minister’s engagements at UNGA will include delivering the Solomon Islands national statement, attending the Pacific Islands Forum (PIF) meeting, participating in bilateral meetings, and taking part in other high-level events on the margins of the Assembly.
Final confirmations of these engagements will be made in the coming weeks ahead of the UNGA proper.
Prime Minister Manele will lead a delegation comprising government ministers, backbenchers, and senior government officials to this year’s Assembly.
The 80th session of the UNGA will convene under the theme: “Better Together: 80 Years and More for Peace, Development and Human Rights.”
