THE official handover of the Faefae Custom House at Lilisiana in Aoke-Langalanga Constituency has opened a new chapter for both local and international visitors, fostering greater engagement with Malaita’s rich cultural heritage.
This milestone was announced by the Malaita Provincial Secretary Erick George during the opening ceremony of the Faefae Kastom Haos last week in Malaita.
Mr. George highlighted that the restoration of the Faefae Kastom Haos will invite visitors to witness, experience, and support a cultural legacy nurtured through generations.
“Our unique cultural heritage is a cornerstone of our tourism industry.
“With the restored Faefae Custom Haos, we are opening a new gateway for visitors to engage with the true identity of our people.
“We invite them to witness, experience, and support this cultural legacy that has been preserved over generations,” Mr. George stated.
He highlighted that the project strengthens the value chain supporting tourism, boosts local livelihoods, and contributes to economic growth and improved living standards.
“Culture is our true wealth it binds us together, defines our identity, and provides a foundation for building stronger communities, a more united province, and a more prosperous Solomon Islands,” he added.
Mr. George also expressed gratitude to the Australian Aovernment for recognizing the value of this project.
“Your partnership affirms that the preservation of culture is not merely an act of remembrance but a powerful step toward resilience, sustainability, and national pride,” he concluded.
