SOLOMON Islands Ports Authority (SIPA) will announce its first ever female pilot for Honiara Ports. SIPA Chief Executive officer (CEO) Collin Yeo announced this during a press conference held at his office, Wednesday afternoon.
Mr Yeo said, they already recruited a female pilot at the ports harbour.
“We already have the female pilot at the moment but we’ll let the public know sometimes soon.
“But for the interest sake for this country, SIPA has a first female pilot at the Ports harbour,” Mr Yeo said.
He said, SIPA decided to recruit the female because SIPA offers equal employment opportunities to both genders.
He said the new harbour boat pilot is currently undergoing training and by end of this month SIPA would announce her name.
