Auckland City and Hekari United are through to the final of the OFC Men’s Champions League 2025 in Honiara after their thrilling victories today.
The final showdown will be played on Saturday evening at the National Stadium.
Auckland City FC was the first to book their spot in the final after a 2-0 victory over Ifira Black Bird FC marking the first semi-final of the day.
Hekari United secured their spot after a hard-fought 1-0 victory over AS Tiga Sport. The only goal was scored in the first half of the match.
Auckland City Coach Paul Posa said he is hoping for a little luck in their final match this Saturday in order to retain their title for the 13th time as the Oceania club champions.
Hekari Coach Jerry Allen said he was happy for his boys that they are able to push through and made it through to the final this Saturday.
“This is a history for our team that we are able to make it back to the grand finals in the Oceania club championships after 15 years since 2010 past coaches have tried but they bounced back and fortunately for me I’m able to lead the boys through this round.”
Jubilant Jerry added, he understands that Auckland players are based in a professional environment and that they have high IQ and his boys really need to work hard, discipline and try harder this time around.
For Hekari the victory marked their return to the final for the first time since winning the competition in 2010, with head coach Jerry Allen the only survivor from their title-winning run 15 years prior.
A first-half strike from Rex Naime proved the difference for Hekari United, holding on to the lead as Tiga Sport’s chances were dented by the loss of a man in the second stanza.
