ACTING Australian High Commissioner Dave Peebles has announced that the opening night of the G’Day Solomon Islands Film Festival this Friday will feature the classic Australian movie ‘Crocodile Dundee’.
“This unforgettable comedy movie, starring Paul Hogan as Mick ‘Crocodile’ Dundee, is one of the most popular Australian films of all time,” said Dr Peebles.
“The movie is about someone who is a legend in outback Australia, having fought off a crocodile. But Mick Dundee then moves to a big city and finds everything a bit strange.
“Crocodile Dundee is a movie the whole family can enjoy.
“For anyone who knows how to deal with crocodile, for anyone who knows what it’s like to move somewhere new, for anyone who likes a good laugh – this is a movie for you!” said Dr Peebles.
Dr Peebles said the Australian High Commission was pleased to provide Honiara with this unique cinema experience to see a classic Australian comedy.
“The Film Festival will have free entry and a family-friendly atmosphere. It’s a great opportunity for families to come down and see a funny movie about an amazing Australian character,” said Dr Peebles.
The inaugural G’Day Solomon Islands Film Festival will commence this Friday 6th June at the Honiara Art Gallery Grounds.
Movie screenings will commence at 6.30pm but it is important to arrive early to secure a good seat. Gates will be open from 5.30pm.
Those attending are encouraged to bring a mat or chair to sit on.
