The reconstruction of the Fiu bridge in Central kwara’ae, Malaita province is currently under the Ministry of Infrastructure Development (MID) assessment program.
That was according to the Malaita provincial Premier Peter Channel Ramohia in a brief interview with this paper on Wednesday in Auki.
He said, some other bridges in the province that had been damaged by the recent cyclone Raquel were under assessment by local MID engineers.
He said, the provincial government is yet to receive any notification of when reconstruction work would start.
“We are still waiting for the reports from MID on when work would start.
“According to MID local engineers, they will redirect the water away from the Western end of the bridge back to its normal route.”
He said, Malaita provincial executive was fully supportive of the renovation work at the bridge.
