New wholesale fuel prices took effect in the country as of 1st June 2025, according to the latest pricing schedule released by South Pacific Oil (SPO) Ltd.
The updated wholesale bulk prices per litre (excluding GST) are as follows:
- Petrol: SBD 7.2186
- Diesoline: SBD 7.4619
- Kerosene: SBD 6.9885
After applying the 15% GST and sales tax, the main port prices per litre are:
- Petrol: SBD 8.3014
- Diesoline: SBD 8.5812
- Kerosene: SBD 8.0368
For bulk purchases in 200-litre drums (including GST):
- Petrol: SBD 1,730.28
- Diesoline: SBD 1,786.24
- Kerosene: SBD 1,677.36
When purchasing the drum along with the fuel, the total cost (including a SBD 800 charge for the drum) is:
- Petrol: SBD 2,480.28
- Diesoline: SBD 2,536.24
- Kerosene: SBD 2,427.36
The notice also indicates that empty drums are priced at SBD 800, with a SBD 750 credit offered for returns in good condition.
New retail prices at Honiara service stations are as follows:
- ULP (Unleaded Petrol): SBD 9.1514 per litre
- Diesel: SBD 9.4312 per litre
- Kerosene: SBD 9.7641 per litre
SPO noted that the adjustments reflect ongoing changes in global oil markets and local distribution costs.
Despite global fluctuations, the current prices represent a decrease of approximately SBD 0.40 compared to previous months.
Authorities continue to advise the public—especially those in rural and remote areas—to stay informed and plan fuel purchases accordingly.
The Ministry of Mines, Energy and Rural Electrification remains responsible for reviewing and regulating fuel pricing to ensure fair distribution and market stability.
Meanwhile, businesses and provincial representatives have welcomed the updated wholesale rates, viewing them as a positive step toward economic adjustment.
