Slight increase to fuel charges for new month

Fuel prices for Honiara have been updated for April 2026, according to the latest wholesale price notice released by South Pacific Oil Limited.
According to the new price new wholesale prices became effective on April 1, 2026, and include petrol, diesel and kerosene prices for bulk fuel and drum purchases.
According to the price advisory, the bulk price per litre now stands at $8.2649 for petrol, $9.0600 for diesel, and $8.5225 for kerosene.
For fuel purchased in drums, the refill price including GST for 200-litre drums is $1,702.98 for petrol, $1,862.00 for diesel, and $1,754.50 for kerosene.
The refill and drum price totals are $2,452.98 for petrol, $2,612.00 for diesel, and $2,504.50 for kerosene per 200-litre drum.
Meanwhile, retail fuel prices at service stations in Honiara are listed per litre at $9.0149 for petrol, $9.8100 for diesel, and $10.2269 for kerosene.
The updated prices are expected to affect transportation, shipping and general goods prices across the country as fuel costs influence operational and freight costs.
The latest fuel price adjustment comes amid the ongoing Middle East conflict involving Iran, which has disrupted global oil supply and pushed world fuel prices higher.
Reports indicate that the conflict has affected oil shipments through key routes in the Middle East, causing global oil prices to rise, which directly affects fuel-importing countries like Solomon
Islands.
Experts warn that continued conflict could lead to further increases in fuel, transport and food prices across the country
